The Polar Circle Marathon

What is the challenge

In October 2018, I will travel to the Arctic Circle to run in the 'Polar Circle Marathon' in a 26mile+ race (42km+). This is a challenge of this extreme nature and in this particular location it can be a crucifying environment for a race. Temperatures drop as low as -30 wind chill. On the next day I will do a half marathon also... which brings the total 2 days of running up to 63km+ of running in frozen conditions.

Charity

The charity that I will work with is the Dublin Simon Community.

Dublin Simon Community provide services to over 5,100 people and families each year across Dublin, Kildare, Meath and Wicklow who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Empower people to access and retain a home by providing housing, prevention, addiction treatment, emergency response and other targeted interventions, through advocacy and partnership.

"So, when the Simon Community opened its new gym in a refurbished warehouse in Dublin city centre, it immediately became a safe place for homeless men and women to come to focus on their physical – and mental – fitness."
